Tailored Options acknowledges the pathway to restoring independence can be often difficult. We endeavour to empower individuals, educating them with NDIS knowledge and how to get the most out of their plan .
Being involved with the NDIA has proven to be daunting, confusing and challenging.
This is where Tailored Options can assist.
Tailored Options not only assist and support individuals but we also welcome and encourage feedback to maintain integrity and a quality service model.
We implement an unconditional person-centred, strengths based framework and work collaboratively with participants, their families, advocates and guardians.
We also work in partnership with external providers that help to support and foster motivation, empowerment and self determination for the individuals.
About
My name is Aylin Taylor, I've been working within the mental health and disability sector for over 15 years has been an eye opening experience. Coming from a hospitality background I wanted to make a difference to peoples lives and not inebriate them, so I began working as a support worker while completing my university studies, and there began my journey working within the industry.
Before working as a support worker I had just begun my studies at university completing a Bachelors Degree in Psychological Sciences. During my studies at university I grew within the industry and so did my role from a support worker to a Residential Coordinator to a Support Coordinator.
After graduation I furthered my studies, completing a Graduate Diploma in Health Research (Mental Health). Once graduated I moved onto working in the Department of Communities working as a Child Safety Officer finding after 6 months that I was fighting a losing battle against a broken system.
So I went back and continued working as a support worker, from there I was offered to fill a temporary role as a Residential coordinator in a supported living home housing 8 residence with full support staff operating 24 hours. On completion in this temporary position a support coordinator role presented itself and therefore I applied successfully being offered the position.
After roughly 2 months in the role, the NDIS was close to rolling out in QLD. I had the fortunate opportunity to be part of a new scheme the NDIS. An NDIS representative visited the organisation I worked for at the time providing information on the NDIA and how to transition our clients to NDIS participants.
Through this fortunate opportunity it allowed me to provide pre-planning and preparing clients to transition to NDIS participants. An amazing and emotional journey it was for the people that I worked with and found on receiving acceptance into the NDIA was truly an amazing experience for these individuals.
They felt they had finally been heard and offered the support they needed to live fulfilling lives despite their disability or mental health. I found this to be very powerful for individuals and enjoyed being a part of that experience.
Since then I have been working as an NDIS support coordinator for just over 7 years. I've also had the opportunity to set up a division within a business to becoming an NDIS registered provider offering further knowledge and experience within a different area.
My journey within the industry and NDIS has brought me to where I am now and feel I can offer the support and education to assist participants in their journey towards achieving their NDIS goals and live fulfilling lives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Psychological Science
- Graduate Diploma in Health Research (Mental Health)
- Mental Health First Aid
- CPR and First Aid
- Yellow Card and Blue Card
- 14+ years working in the mental health and disability sector.
- Specialised Support Coordination
- Foundational Skills on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
- Currently completing a Masters in Mental Health Specialising in Psychotherapy
- Currently completing a Diploma in Counselling
- Ongoing professional development
